DEFORMITY CORRECTIONS (KNEE & FOOT)

Deformity can either be because of old neglected trauma or sequel of infection in the past.

It requires a very individual approach to the case as per patient’s symptoms and need.

Some times deformities around joints can be treated with replacement alone and in some cases it may require additional fixation as well.

Most commonly encountered deformities are:

Hallux Valgus

Great toe of foot going out and pushing all toes with it.

Complex Foot deformities

Complex foot deformities are defined as multiplanar rigid deformity of the foot with or without foot shortening.

Deformities around knee

Mostly they are result of previous trauma or infections.

Not all the deformities require surgical correction. Its offered only when:

It becomes very painful
Interferes with function
Cosmetic appearance
